Between
Body and Reality
The body seen as an expression of itself.
Exhibited
at the Adei-Wizo Hall. Milan 2003
The
way in which we perceive the nature of a body becomes real as soon
as we create the thought in our minds, this however is actually
just an interpretation of reality.
Reality
is what we are and where we live, oftentimes however, we have a
perception that we are detached from our surroundings including
our body. Somehow it is “less real” than reality because
we own it.
To fuse this reality I have used the body as an abstract object
in order to create a new space in which it can be seen in varying
perspectives, and therefore perceived as something different. In
this way we can relate to it not just as something that belongs
to us as individuals, but also belongs to the reality of the world.
The
way we usually see the human body is just one of the many possible
interpretations of it, and as such it can be changed and transformed
into something that can bring you to a different level of awareness.
My intention was to show that using photography to play around with
the shape of a human body, it can give us the possibility to perceive
it and ourselves in a more intimate and real way.
